24th of July weekend fun

Well the 24th didn't turn out quite how we had planed, as we were going to go to Bountifuls' handcart days, but all the good stuff was on Thurs, so we scratched that, and instead we attempted to watch the Parade on tv, but Elizabeth had no real interest in it, and went down for her nap before it was even over. When she woke up we finished getting ready and went to the Hogle Zoo. It was her first time, and I wasn't expecting her to care much, but she actually had a good time! She LOVED the monkeys, which I think is only natural as she is herself a little monkey! She also enjoyed watching the giraffes, and elephants too. We didn't stay real long, as it got really hot, and all the animals were in where it's cool. After we headed to Bountiful and visited with my grandparents. She really put on the charm for them! It was a really good day! Then Saturday, we did some major cleaning and organizing upstairs, then in the evening we took Trax up to the Bees game, they lost of course, but the fireworks after were awesome!! Even Elizabeth watched them!! It was a great holiday weekend!!

Better Late Then Never

Update and the fun weekend!

Ok so last Tuesday we took Elizabeth to a neurologist at Primary Childrens to have her twitch thing looked at. They asked us all the same questions we'd been asked dozens of times before, with all the same answers, no her eyes don't roll back when she does it, they don't last more than a split second, yada yada yada. The dr then asked us lots of developmental questions...yes she can sit up, yes she can crawl, and pull herself up, and cruise along just about anything, she waves(with her hand not just her whole arm) she can say hi, bye, mama, dada, and baba. Yes she points and gestures at things she wants. Turns out she's above average with her development so it's not holding her back, and then finally at the end of the visit she twitched in front of him, quite a few times too! He said he felt confident in saying that it wasn't a seizure, but seems to him more like a stereotypical movement or as I've said all along, a twitch. It's a movement some people just do, with no rhythm of reason to them. He said that he wanted a EEG done on her just to be %110 sure there was nothing going on in the brain. He also couldn't tell us really what to expect with this movement. If it'll just fade away over time, or what, so we'll just have to keep an eye on it. Lately she's been doing it and we'll do it back to her and then she does it again, and laughs so now I think it's kinda a game to her, and it's also turned more into a nod, so she can shake her head no, and now nod her head yes also! So that's that, we'll keep you posted with the results of her EEG on Wed.
Now to this weekend, it was great!! We went up to Logan Friday after Tony got home from work, and met up with my parents at Travel land. This was their first time recreating (as they have to call it now, it's no longer camping at this point) with their new conquest moterhome! We were more than willing to help them test it out for the first time. It's so so soooo much bigger than there other little trailer, we can all sit and walk around comfortably! There's also lots of beds! The queen in the back two bunks across from the bathroom, the dinette turns into a bed, the couch has a hida-bed and then Tony and I slept above the cab, it's huge up there!! Saturday after breakfast we went to Gossners, then stopped by the movie theater and got tickets for the 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock shows for Harry Potter, tony and I went to the first while my parents watched Elizabeth, then we switched. It was really good, we all loved it! It's such an awesome movie! We each stopped by pepperage farm while the other was at the movie too, then we all went to Aggie Ice Cream, yummy!! Then everyone but my dad, went to Joann's where we finally found fabric for Elizabeth's first birthday dress, that my mom is sewing, it's going to be soooo adorable!! My Aunt Julie joined us Sat. night and even with 5 adults and a busy very mobile 10 month old, we still didn't feel cramped at all! Even with a pack and play up in front of the cab area. I'm just so glad Elizabeth does fine sleeping anywhere! In a random hotel, in a tent or in a trailer it's all the same to her! We had a really great weekend, and my parents new toy is just great!! And nobody deserves it more than they do!! We've camped years and years in rain, snow, wind and heat, with a tent we hoped would still be there in the morning, huddled in the middle so we wouldn't touch the sides and cause a lake to form around us. Bathed in the middle of the tent with a lawn chair, and a yellow bucket with water warmed on the little propane stove by my dad. And was even grateful to find an even half decent pit toilet, as it was better than a bush, for me at least! If only I had those wonderful pictures of old beaten up cars(usually by us) with lots of crap piled on the top held on by a old tattered blue tarp, and ropes, and filled to the gills with all our camping stuff, it put hillbillies to shame. Our "base camp" all set up in such a way that many a times my parents were mistaken for the camp hosts! So I say again no one deserves this wonderful new RV more than my parents! I for one am grateful for the amazingly nice tent, and camp stuff Tony and I have, and have full intentions of giving our children the same great appreciation for, a soft bed, flushing toilet, shower, and any hard sides at all!!

Vacation a twitch and the 4th of July

On June 12th Elizabeth turned 9 months old!! And we set out to Cortez CO. My mom had a family reunion there with relatives she hadn't seen in a long time. While we were there we spent a couple days at Mesa Verde. The first day we all went to the Spruce Tree House, The second time we went it was just Tony my brother Eric and I, we did the more strenuous hikes, Balcony House and Cliff Palace. In between those we spent a day in Durango and Silverton. After that we headed to Moab, and spent a couple days in Arches, seeing as much as we could, which of course wasn't even close to everything there is to see. My favorite was the hardest hike to Delicate Arch, not for the hike that nearly did us in(kudos to Tony for carrying Elizabeth and himself up and down it!) but the arch is absolutely beautiful and the weather was perfect! We also made stops at the Needles outlook in Canyonlands and because someone let my dad drive, we also stopped at Hole in the Rock. All in all it was a great vacation, it got a bit colder at night than we expected but luckily there was a Walmart in Cortez, so we got Elizabeth hats, and thick socks to put on her hands. She's a great camping girl, and we all had a real good time!
About a week after we got back, they finished putting down the new parking lot!! It's so nice not having to worry about pot holes anymore!! It looks really nice too!
Now for the twitch. Just over a week ago, we started noticing Elizabeth jerking her head to the side, sometimes to the front. At first I thought she'd learned how to nod, then as days passed it was going more to the side, and was a real sharp movement, then her arm started doing it to, she'd jerk her head and straighten her arm up against her head. I was getting confused and a bit concerned so Thursday morning I called the pediatrician's office, at first we were told to just bring her into the urgent care early Friday, but that afternoon, one of the dr's called and talked to me about it, and was concerned too, so he tried to get her into the neurology fast track program, but they couldn't get her in as fast as he'd hoped, so he told me to take her to Primary Children's ER, so Tony came home and we went up there, and spent like 6 hours there. They did a CT scan, and blood work, both were normal. She only twitched in front of the ER dr, but she was totally baffled. It seems too short to be a seizure which is what they were worried about, but not like any muscle spasm they've ever ween, at least in an infant. One dr said it looked like a nervous twitch but babies don't get those. They released us at 9 pm calling it a type of muscle spasm, but had me set up an appointment with neurology yesterday, because they've just never seen anything like it in her age group, so they want to do an EEG, and study it a bit more, so she gets that done on the 14th. Luckily it doesn't bother her at all, I honestly don't even think she knows she's doing it.
Saturday for the 4th we went up to my parents house, and had delicious ribs(thanks dad) and dutch oven potatoes and carrots(thanks to Tony) and lots of other yummy stuff. My mom had a little pool Elizabeth really enjoyed, and the other little ones too, they also had fun on the slip and slide. After dinner and presents, as we were celebrating June and July birthdays as well. We headed to the front yard to do fireworks. Elizabeth saw a couple and seemed to enjoy watching them like she enjoys watching Baby Einstein, then zonked out just after nine, her bedtime, you don't mess with her bedtime man! Good food good fireworks, what more could you ask for?!

Memorial Day and More

Over Memorial Day weekend we went up to Logan, as is tradition in my family. We drove up Saturday morning, and went to Gossners Cheese Factory and got lots of yummy cheese and a couple cases of flavored milk, while there I felt bad as we were sampling things that Elizabeth couldn't have anything, as she is allergic to milk, so we gave her a ritz cracker they had set out for you to put cheese spreads on, and to my surprise she ate it really well!! So we got her a couple more, I was so impressed with her chewing and swallowing!! After we went up to the Pepperidge Farm outlet, and got cookies and crackers and such. Then we had lunch at Aggie Ice Cream, and of course super good ice cream. None of which Elizabeth could have either, we asked about the sherbet but it too had milk in it. Poor girl, she still had a good time though. We then went back to my parents trailer, and visited for a bit, while little girl napped, then Tony and I and my dad, went to the theater and saw Night at the Museum 2, we all thought it was very good and hilarious as expected! We then went and checked into our hotel room, went back visited some more, then went back to the hotel to swim, and call it a day. Sunday, we had a yummy breakfast, thanks mom, and went to the Smithfield Cemetery to put flowers on my great grandparents grave. After that we went and scoped out another campground in Hyrum to maybe stay at next year. Then we went back to my parent's trailer and had a picnic lunch inside as it stared pouring down. That afternoon we went swimming again, but not as long, cause Elizabeth was tired going in so she didn't last very long before she got cranky. We then went back to the trailer, and Tony made us a yummy dutch oven dinner using the dome my parents got him for Bunny Day. It burned a bit as it was his first time using the dome and didn't really know what to expect, but it was still good! He also made us a chocolate cherry cobbler, that was soooo very yummy! We even got to eat outside as the rain had stopped when we'd come back from swimming. Monday morning we packed up, and checked out, and went to the trailer for some breakfast and say goodbye to my parents, then we headed home. My parents didn't make it home til the next day though as their truck overheated about five minutes in. We thankfully had no trouble getting home, and when we did we unloaded the Pilot. Then we decided to put up our tent and air it out a bit since it was such a nice day, hot but nice. It's still looking good, and we didn't totally forget how to put it up. We'll be using it on our trip in ten days!! After we got the tent down and back in it's bag and put out of the way, we decided to go to lunch at Ruby Tuesdays as we had a buy one entree get one free coupon. We drove up and thought it was closed, but it was actually just totally dead, we got their ribs, and oh man were they delicious!!!(we've been back twice since with the same coupon, the food is really good!!) And that was that!
Now for the more...last friday I took Elizabeth to the doctor cause I noticed she had a yeast infection(I knew cause she'd had one before) while we were with the dr, she laughed as she often does for people, but as always after the laugh the dr noticed her sort of wheezing gasp. And said that wasn't ok, or normal. At her last wellness check up I talked with her pediatrician about it and her random coughing and being out of breath, and we decided to just keep an eye on it, well since I have been I've noticed she does those things daily, so they are kind of testing her for asthma, by hitting her symptoms hard then backing off. So along with the yeast infection cream we got a prescription for a steroid(in a syrup, that she HATES) and was told to use her nebulizer again(which she's also not fond of) We started out giving her treatments every 5 hours then 7 then twice a day, and just once today, then tomorrow we stop everything(steroid and nebulizer) and see what happens. So ya, I'm not sure what to expect or really what it means if it comes back again, but we'll find out I guess!! I too went to the dr friday evening with a yeast infection. We also bought a new ceiling light/fan, for the dining room, that we got put up last night, it looks so so soooooo much better than the old 1980's one that was there! Thanks so much Tony for doing that!! Well that pretty much catches ya up with us, here are some pictures of Elizabeth as she's constantly amusing us!
