Proud Mama Moment
So yesterday I had one of those moments where you realize that even though it doesn't seem like it, your child really is listening to you when your teaching them things. You see Elizabeth was off playing while I was just doing other things...when all the sudden I hear "perfect", "that was very nice", "great job", "that's right". Over and over and over again in a sweet Cinderella voice. So I walked over and looked behind the couch where I found Elizabeth with the new princess laptop she got from my friend Kim for her birthday, I asked "watcha doin' little girl?" Liz says "oh I'm just matching letters". "Matching letters?" I asked. "Ya mom...big ones with little ones!" She replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world. She went through the whole alphabet matching the upper case and lower case letters and only missed 3 on the first try!! I was sooooo proud!!! I guess our letter lessons have been paying off!! She only has 8 more letter sounds to pat down(remember consistently) then we're done with letters...then I guess we'll dive into numbers. It really scares me that by three and a half, she could possibly be reading first reader books, and doing addition and subtraction. And the fact that that's what they learn in Kindergarten makes me second guess my education plan for Elizabeth. I've said it before and I'll say it again...what am I gonna do with that girl?!(Brooke I know what your thinking...just home school her dang it!! And when we get back from our trip I'm definitely going to find a time to talk to you about it, cuase I'm just still not sure) I just want to do what's best for her...I really wish I knew what that was!!

Elizabeth's Early Birthday Pool Party!!
Saturday was a super busy day! But let me back up to Friday...I took Elizabeth to the doctor in the morning for a scary coughing attack, they had her blow into a peek(?) flow meter which barely registered(meaning she couldn't blow air out) they took her pulse ox which showed her oxygen levels were low, then they measured how much carbon dioxide was in her and that level was scary high! All this made it an easy diagnosis of asthma, and a severe case at that. They did a breathing treatment in the office which brought her oxygen and carbon dioxide levels back to a normal range and told me to have her use her nebulizer every 4 hours, and put her on a "maintenance" medication to help bring down the inflammation of her airways. The doctor told me that this kind of asthma in this age group is tricky because they aren't quite old enough to use a rescue inhaler for sudden attacks, so we just have to do our best to keep it under control, so they tend to "over treat" it, until they're old enough to have patch testing done to find out what her main triggers are and use a rescue inhaler. And later that day I was also informed that Devin's upper GI from the day before showed a severe case of acid reflux, the good news is he'll hopefully grow out of it in the next 3 to 6 months...I'm shooting for closer to the 3 month mark! Friday afternoon Elizabeth went with Tony's parents and all but two of her girl cousins for Grandma's camp! Now to the CRAZY Saturday! That morning we had Devin's 6 month pictures done at JC Penny, then we went to Zurchers as we were right next to it and got the balloons for Liz's party. Then we came home and I headed over to a baby shower for a sweet sister in our ward. After Liz got home from camp we started getting ready, and started decorating the pavilion by the pool with all the fun stuff we had. Almost all of Tony's family came, and even one of Elizabeth's good friends was able to come play with her. My good friend Kim and her new hubby even came by for a bit! She had SO much fun!! After playing in the pool for a good long time we had a traditional BBQ with hamburgers and hot dogs. After dinner we brought out the pinata which Elizabeth LOVED! Even more than I expected! It was good tough pinata too! Then it was present time!! Elizabeth's cousin Melina was such a good helper getting her presents to open. She is one SPOILED little girl! She loved everything and was really good about thanking everyone(with some reminding from me ;) Then we put 3 candles in her cute cake(that Tony's dad of course made!) sang Happy Birthday to her, and she knew just what to do and blew out the candles with no help or any sort of reminder from me. Tony and I were impressed, she was just right on it! It was a really great party and I'm so grateful to everyone who came to support our gorgeous girl. She felt very loved!
