3 hour OB appointment

So Monday I went to my appointment with my OB, and it started as a typical visit, bathroom, scale, blood pressure(which was a bit high, but that turned out to be the least of it), then Dr. Kinghorn came in and asked how our trip was(she's from California, so she liked to hear about it) She found the heartbeat, and said that it sounded pretty good! She measured my little tummy, and said it was too little, in fact it hadn't hardly changed at all since the last visit 3 weeks ago, and she didn't like that. This normal visit started going down hill a bit. She ordered an ultrasound to check out Elizabeth's size, and just check up on things. She scheduled a visit in a week to check my blood pressure again. Then I headed down to get the ultrasound, and conveniently they had someone not show up, so they were able to get me right in. The nurse did her thing measuring every part of Elizabeth, and looking at all her organs and such, Elizabeth didn't move the entire time, so she listened into and tracked her heartbeat, which she said sounded pretty good. She then went and got the Dr, (who had done my last two ultrasounds), but she could only get Elizabeth to roll over. She said she thought she saw something but she wanted to get the "experts" opinion, so she went and got the head of the department(I was doing my best not to cry, and totally freak out) So he came in, and reviewed everything, went and ran something through his computer. When he came back he told me that he noticed "rushing" through the umbilical cord, but the placenta was resisting it, and not much was getting through. He told me this was a sign of a weakening placenta, that could possibly wear out prematurely. Not real good. He ordered a non stress test, and told me that the best thing I could do is to lie on my left side to help increase circulation, and take it easy(like I haven't heard that a million times before!) So I waited about a half hour to get in to do the non stress test, the best part was she got the hiccups from the "bloody mary" juice mixture they gave me to get her to move around, which worked about 5 minutes after drinking it, she was doing the hokey pokey! But her heart rate dipped a couple times, the 2nd time they had an ultrasound machine hooked to me, and they saw that when the umbilical cord had a rush and the placenta resisted it caused her heart rate to dip. So the head honcho ultrasound Dr told me to come in every week for the next 3 weeks, to do non stress tests, then he said he wanted to do another ultrasound in 3 weeks, and they might have to deliver her, but that wasn't his call. He also told me to do kick counts after every meal, everyday, and if it took more than an hour for her to kick 10 times to go straight to labor and delivery(really trying hard not to completely stress out now, as I know that won't help) Then I went home in a complete daze, and tried to process it all. Thankfully, yesterday morning my OB Dr. Kinghorn called and told me she'd gone over the results of the ultrasound, and didn't like them either. She said she totally agreed with the other dr about doing the non stress tests weekly, and the ultrasound in 3 weeks. She asked if i had any questions and I asked what our plan looked like now, and if I was still on with my due date. She said at this point, Elizabeth would be fine outside the womb, and if it ever becomes better that she be outside the womb she'll take her in a heartbeat. She said her biggest concern is that there's a thin spot on the placenta that could tear to disastrous results, she's not a risk taking person, so she's not going to risk that happening, and will take her out if anything hints to this problem worsening. Also with the non stress tests, if she has one any worse than that last one, she'll take her out. But mostly in 3 weeks at the next ultrasound if things aren't looking better, or Elizabeth hasn't starting gaining major amount of weight, she'll...you guessed it take her out. She said at that point she'd be better off in our control than in the womb where we can't really control anything. So she put an anticipated pre-term delivery in 3-4 weeks on my chart. But I'm not allowed to worry or stress about it, cause it will just make it worse. My biggest thing is a fear that I'm not ready yet, I still have two months to come to terms, and now I probably don't. I want what everyone wants a perfectly healthy baby, not a tiny little thing that will be in neo-natal ICU for weeks. Dr. Kinghorn told me that even if she was born now she'd weigh a good 3 1/2 pounds ish and would be just fine, which is why she won't hesitate to deliver her the moment things don't improve. I just can't wrap my mind around a baby that small, whenever you see them that small it just breaks your heart. Previously I could NOT bring myself to by newborn size baby clothes cause they just looked too small, today I went and bought a couple preemie outfits, and they look like doll clothes. Too small to fit a real baby. Oh and then there's the condo which is in complete disarray. Her room is not even done remodeled yet not to mention set up as a nursery. Though Tony is really taking things up a notch to get as much done by the end of August as we can. He is so amazing!! I'm taking it more and more easy, and he's working harder and harder!! What a trooper, Elizabeth takes after her dad in that aspect! Oh and as soon as I pick out which San Fran pics I want to use I'll post about the trip. We've been house sitting for my parents for the last week and until this friday, so I haven't had as much motivation to post(I'm at home now as I had to come down for my physical therapy today) So we'll see how much more I get done.

Life is Crazy

Well I figured that i should take a moment and do a quick post, seeming how it has almost been two weeks. Life has been crazy for us the past few weeks. We went on our trip to San Francisco, I am letting Anni post on that one later. We got back and spent two days at home before we went up to her parents place to house sit and dog watch for them. We will be there till the end of this week. I have been working almost everyday on the condo, thanks to Anni's dad i have been able to get to the point of painting. He was down everyday that we were gone and worked alot on the mudding. Tonight after work i plan to get the primer on the walls in the second bedroom and hopefully by the end of the week i can have the painting all done and just have the hall way and the closet to paint and then it will be ready for carpet. I am hoping that bye the middle of August i can get our carpet installed, we purchased it last week. I have pictures on the camera that i will need to post of what it looks like, honestly it is night and day difference in there. Well Lunch is almost over and hopefully Anni will post later when she can.

Goodbye popcorn ceiling!!!(well some)

So all the drywall is up on the ceiling!! Well in the 2nd bedroom, and upstairs hallway, and over the stairs anyway, which is all we're tackling right now. The 2nd bedroom is looking absolutely GREAT!!! All the junk is out(and now all over the rest of the house), but it's emptied out, except for the all the tools, and ladders and platform, being used in the construction. With the help of Tony's dad, my dad and Johnny, this huge project is really coming along! My dad came by after work yesterday and helped Tony smooth out the taping joints, and Johnny is coming over tonight to help out. This part is kinda tedious, because they put mud on let it dry sand, and put another coat of mud on, but that's kinda the way it goes. Oh and we have a working ceiling light in the 2nd bedroom! With a working dimmer!! Thanks dad, for helping us figure out our electrical issues! Tony spent a good 5 minutes just playing with the dimmer last Sat! We are just so excited to have such a simple pleasure in life as being able to flip a switch and have a light in the middle of the room come on! It's so nice!!! It's one of those things you don't fully appreciate until you don't have it. Tony is really excited about all the work that's getting done before we leave on vacation to San Fransisco on Thursday. I'm really excited for that, as we're flying and I haven't been on a plane in over 5 years!! I love flying on planes!! Neither of us have been to San Fran, and Tony has a mission companion getting married close to there, so we thought we'd go support him, and make a little vacation out of it, and thanks to a lot of good deals we found, we were able to do it! I'm so excited!!!!

Looking at paint

So this happened a couple weeks ago, and I've been meaning to write about it. We are no longer allowed to go look at paint at Home Depot. It's really not what you think, we get all our paint at Home Depot as we our sold on Behr paint(it's amazing!)So we went to home depot to color match paint to the purple and yellow pieces of the adorable crib quilt my mother made for the nursery. We weren't going to buy it yet just match colors, and help me come to terms with the yellow(painting in yellow scares me, even if it's just a little bit) Anyway...so we get to home depot and notice they have the Santa Fe doors we put in down stairs, for only $50!(they're originally around $75) we were already planning on replacing the doors upstairs, and at that price we couldn't resist, so when they were putting together the order they told us that we qualified for a 6 months no interest home depot card, and we'd get %10 off our purchase. Lets just say it snowballed from there.(we hate credit cards, but as the money was already set aside, and we could get an extra %10 off, we figured why not save more money) So we went in to LOOK at paint, and a couple hours later had on will call(as we couldn't fit it all in the pilot) 5 doors, one big low E window(that we got for the price of the non low E window) all our molding and casing, 4 cans of paint(which we got %10 0ff, and $20 back) and 8 sheets of drywall. I think that's it. So needless to say, no more going to look for paint!! It's turned out to be a GREAT deal, we saved a lot, and Tony(and help)have been able to do a lot of work upstairs. We have 3 doors replaced(frames and all), the new window is in, and looks great! Tony's wired for a ceiling light in the 2nd bedroom, and just last night Tony, his dad and brother in law Johnny, put up most of the drywall on the ceiling! It's really coming along! And Tony's feeling really good as he's ahead of schedule! I'm thrilled cause it puts me that much closer to actually being able to start putting the nursery together, and best of all start decorating!!(oh and get the rest of the house back, as it's all a construction zone right now) We have construction pics I'll try and get posted soon.

The 4th

Sorry this has taken so long, life's just plain crazy right now. So Tony and I spent the 4th with my family this year, as his family wasn't really doing anything special. Tony volunteered to do the cooking(this was motivation to get more of my family members to come as they love his cooking). He decided to do it in the dutch oven, he's been a bit deprived this year as we had lots of little camping trips planned this summer, but only went on the one to Zions in march, because of the pregnancy and remodel, so he was really excited to get to dutch oven cook! He decided to do manti chicken(mmmmmmmmmmm),and cabbage(don't go ew! we've yet to find ANYONE who doesn't like it, in the dutch oven) It turned out sooooooooooo good!!! everyone loved it! Tony cooked up 8 pounds of chicken, and three huge heads of cabbage, and there were hardly any leftovers to be spoken of!! Once again he put my family in awe and amazement with his awesome cooking skills!! Everyone tells me and I completely, totally, undeniably agree that I am the luckiest girl in the world to have snatched up Tony. I tell them they're right but it's way more than just because of his cooking, he's so good to me, and I love him more than words could even begin to explain! Anyway, we had a great 4th, lots of fun with my aunts and cousins. Tony and my cousin Spencer had a bit too much fun seeing how many fireworks they could light up and one time :) Hope you enjoyed the pictures!(I meant to put them under this but oops, oh well) (EDIT: Tony moved it to the top.)
