Let It Snow.....FINALLY!!

The day after Christmas our first priority was to go out and get the kids snow boots, as the ones they had were way too small, and they kids REALLY wanted to play in the snow they've waited months for! We started at Walmart which was a bust for boots but I did find some cute hat and glove sets. then we went to Payless where Elizabeth fell in love with some Frozen boots but they of course didn't have her size the only store that did was Centerville, so they put them on hold for us and we got a $4 off coupon too! We found some nice Cars boots at Kid to Kid for Devin....we also got him a Cozy Coup truck they had there that was in like new condition! Then we went home and got the kids some lunch, then my mom kept an eye on them while we drove to Centerville and picked up Elizabeth's boots. We hit up Target and Walmart down there for the Christmas clearance and found a few little things here and there. We picked up some lunch for us then stopped by KMart where we found a few more things, then came home. Once Devin was up from his nap Tony took the kids outside to play in the snow. they were giggling and having a grand old time!! Saturday morning we got up and went to visit Tony's Grandpa Nelson and Grandma Johnston. Both were good visits, we talked about our trip to Canada with Grandpa Nelson and the kids loved the dog statues, and Devin was completely in love with grandpa's grandfather clock and the fact that it chimes! The kids were pleased to get a candy cane from great grandma and we love our calendar! That afternoon Jen and I went to the theater to see Mocking Jay Part One, while Tony watched the kids. After the movie we stopped by the house and I dropped off my popcorn and drink then we decided to go out to dinner, just Jen and I, since Tony insisted he was good with the kids. Jen had the fabulous idea to go to Olive Garden and it was delicious!! We had a great chat as well....it's amazing how we can just talk and talk and talk! We both agreed it was wonderful to get out sans kids! Sunday we actually made it to all three blocks of church!!! And the kids were actually pretty good! Devin spent a good amount of time under the bench but it's better than screaming! The primary sang a couple songs which Elizabeth was very excited about...in fact she walked right up to the podium and stood in front of the microphone....until the music director moved her over. My mom and I had a good chuckle about that one, man does she love the spot light! :) The rest of church went really well too, Devin got to join the Sunbeams for sharing and singing time and said he loved it! I cannot believe next year both kiddos will be in primary!!!! Yesterday was a lazy morning, I started working on this here blog while the kids played and listened to the Annie soundtrack over and over. In the afternoon I took them out to play in the snow, then we walked over to one of the retention basins up the street and the kids had fun sledding down the little hill there. Then we came home and warmed up with some hot cocoa! Today was a low key day Elizabeth played outside this morning....Devin didn't like the wind so he stayed upstairs with me and my mom and played with her legos. When Elizabeth came in she made us all hot cocoa, then we came downstairs and they played the new Bubble Guppies Leap TV game, it's science based and the kids loved it! After lunch Devin unwillingly and mostly unwantingly went down for a nap(he passed out after only about ten minutes!) Then Elizabeth played in the bathtub for a couple hours while I once again worked on this here blog....and that brings you up to date!

Christmas Day!!!

Elizabeth was up about 6 Christmas morning but she played nicely in her room until about 7 when we woke Devin up, which he didn't mind so much once he remembered it was Christmas! They ran out and saw what they had asked Santa for sitting in front of the Christmas tree and they were thrilled! We may have upstaged Santa just a bit as far as Elizabeth was concerned as she seemed more excited about the stuffed Patch from 101 Dalmatians and the vanity we got her than her Furby Boom. But she did love it too! My mom came down and watched the kids tear into their presents....we're mean though and make them take turns. ;) Once they were done Tony and I opened our gifts. It was a wonderful Christmas morning! While the kids played with some of their new fun toys Tony made our traditional french toast breakfast, which we took upstairs and shared with my parents. After breakfast the kids went back downstairs and played some more while my parents and I had a great discussion/therapy session. A little after noon we finally got dressed and ready and headed to Bountiful to my grandparents' house were we had a bit to eat and visited with family for a couple hours. Then we were off to Tony's parents' house for the Johnston Christmas dinner and party. Dinner was VERY delicious, Elizabeth had a great time playing with her cousins and Devin had fun playing with the Little people mostly by himself. After dinner was presents! This year we had the cousins draw names and give gifts to each other. Madison gave Devin Chase(from Paw Patrol) with his police car and two cones, which he loves!(he's sleeping with them at this very moment) Devin gave Keira a Palace pets magnetic dress up play set thing that looked fun and creative, other than the fact that for some odd reason two of the markers that came with it didn't work, she seemed to be enjoying it. Keira had Elizabeth and gave her a fun 3 in 1 lego set with a dog, cat and mouse.....she was thrilled! Elizabeth got Carson a Little People Little Movers truck! Which he seemed to really like! Grandma and grandpa gifts were like last year, they got fun pj's, Elizabeth got a Frozen watch(she absolutely LOVES being able to tell what time it is!) and other fun little things and Devin got cool binoculars that he's had lots of fun with, as well as other fun little things. Tony and I got BYU camp chairs(YAY!!!!!!) as well as a matching fold-able camp table with cup holders! We can't wait to break them in this summer!! After the kids got fun things out of their stockings we gathered everything up and headed home, calling it a truly wonderful Christmas day! Eric was on my mind a lot that day but it was great to be with the rest of my family and to feel so loved by an amazing husband, the two best kids in the world and so many others!
