New responsibilities

So last Saturday we were very nearly ready to head out to go to the Festival of Trees with my parents, when the phone rang, Tony answered it, and it was Bro. Lake from our bishopric, saying the the Bishop would like to meet with me. I was immediately nervous, but could have never prepared myself for the calling I was about to receive. He asked me to be the Relief Society Secretary, I accepted thinking it was the president and the two counselors that do most of the work right?! WRONG!! I'd so much rather be over homemaking or education!! I'm expected to know just about everything that's going on in the ward, but I don't even know most of the ward, I'm horrible with names, and especially putting them with faces!! I'm basically in charge of just about everything the president is just after her! She decides how she wants things done and I do them! I'm also in charge of the budget with her(which is wonderful this time of year!)I trust in the Lord and am sure He knows what he's doing, but I must admit I'm a bit overwhelmed with it all right now, I went from doing absolutely nothing in the ward to assisting in running the relief society!! But anyway on to more fun things, we went to the Festival of Trees and realized we really like doing a tree just so that we can come on the special night, it's not nearly as crowded! But there were lots of fun trees, and we all got a yummy treat, then we went to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch! It was lots of fun! My parents and Tony and I were planning on doing a Canada tree this year, but Elizabeth took priority, so we're going to work on it this coming year for next year! Well I can't think of anything else, and I'll be posting tomorrow, as Elizabeth will be three months old!!

Long time, lots to catch up!

So it's been quite a while since our last post, so you're expecting a long post, but we'll just have to see, I"m not exactly in a long post mood. I'll try and catch y'all up the best I can. Nov 12 Elizabeth was 2 months old, and had her wellness check up, she weighed in at 10 pounds!!! I was sooo happy she was growing well! She's 21 inches long(she's grown a whole 2 inches!!) she's still in the lowest quarter of the percentile for everything in her age group, but then so was I my whole life! Tony and I discussed our concern about her reflux and spitting up all the time, with the pediatrician, she suggested we try putting her on a hypoallergenic milk and lactose free formula, thinking she may be allergic to milk protein(which isn't so unlikely since I was as a baby) Unfortunately this formula is the most expensive formula out there!! She got her immunizations, which she did really well with, she only cried for a couple minutes then sucking on her bink she was fine! I was very impressed! That Sunday my friend Steph took our pictures for our Christmas card, we were going to do it at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building but it's closed on Sunday(which we should've known, but oh well) so we ended up doing them at the Conference Center. Elizabeth was horrible!! She screamed almost the entire time...bloody murder!! But Steph being the awesome photographer that she is, got some good ones we could use. Last Saturday, we got pictures done at Inkleys with my parents and brother(as we haven't had a family picture done, since like 2003 or 2004, I honestly don't even remember!) Elizabeth did a bit better. After we went to lunch at The new Texas Road House in Bountiful, then Tony and I came home and cleaned up our downstairs, as a couple of my friends from high school, Orion and Makell, and their little boy Brickton were coming over that evening to watch the sad BYU vs U of U game. Even though BYU lost we still had a good time, and nice visit. Now to Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday of the year! I was with Tony's family this year, and the food was really really good!! Especially the rolls, I had like four of them! Elizabeth showed off her adorable smile, and talking voice to everyone, she's getting so big so fast!! Tony's sister and her husband brought their new addition...a very cute pug puppy named Vinny!! Then we went up to my parents, and mapped out our plan for black friday, which was a pretty good success! My biggest downfall was Carter's, the entire store was %50 off!! But in the end I came home with money still in my wallet so it was a success! AND...as of yesterday I am all done Christmas shopping for my family and Tony!! we just have one more present to buy in Tony's family but I think we did good this year!! Well I think that pretty much catches you up!! Here's some photos just because if I don't post them I'll get in trouble!

Wonderful Weekend!!

So we did it! We went all last week without going to any hospitals, or even seeing any doctors!! It was so nice. I have to admit I'm not feeling %100 quite yet I still feel weak and tired a lot, but I can deal with that! So to the title, wonderful weekend...that it was! Friday one of my good friends from high school came over in the afternoon, with her 15 month old son(who's so so soooo cute!!!) We had a very nice visit. Then Ketty(Tony's sister) came and picked up Elizabeth, to watch her for the evening, while Tony and I went out on our first "date" since Elizabeth was born, well actually even before that as I was on bedrest the last few weeks of the pregnancy. Anyway, after Ketty left with Liz I took a nice hot shower, and got all dressed up for the first time in months!! And the best part was I decided to see if my pants would fit, and they did!! I was sooo excited!! Then when Tony got home, we went to the theater Jordan Landing and saw Madagascar 2. It was very funny, I think even better than the first! We laughed a lot!! Then we went to Johny Carinos but the wait was super long, so we went to Hires Big H instead(you can never go wrong with Hires!) It was so nice to be able to talk to Tony without having to worry about the baby, if she's hungry if she's wet, if she's cold, if she's tired, if she needs love or her bink. To not have to worry about anything but enjoying one another's company. Don't get me wrong I was so happy to see Elizabeth when we picked her up, I love her so much, but I honestly didn't miss her til I saw her after the date, then it didn't matter cause we were together again! On Sunday after church we went up to my parents house and spent a the afternoon(and most of the evening) with them. On the way home we stopped by my grandparents and visited with them, Tony and my g-pa Dick could talk forever!! Me and g-ma had fun playing with Elizabeth. She's getting so big and changing so much! She's started "talking" (my g-ma had lots of fun having a long conversation with her,a nd I have a video of her "talking" during baby gym time on Friday) she smiles when she sees me, especially when someone else is holding her, she turns her head toward me when I'm talking, she starting to grab things(have video of that too!), her arms and legs are getting stronger, she pretty much holds her head up on her own all the time, and most exciting, she's finally starting to wear her 0-3 cloths!!! they're still pretty baggy on her, but they stay on, and she's grown out of some of her newborn clothes(now she's 2 months!) I'm excited she's growing and changing but sad she's not little tiny anymore, I love watching her personality come out more and more everyday though! Here are some pics for ya of her at 8 weeks, Enjoy!

When it rains it POURS!!!!!!!

So Life is officially "not real good" right now. We had one peaceful week(the warm before the storm!)In fact two weeks ago life was pretty good!! My brother came to visit, and we had an awesome discussion on life and religion and such, and he's so good at making Elizabeth happy! Tony and I experienced an Asian photo studio(we didn't know it was, a coupon was left on my windshield)luckily he had an offer for a free picture of kids under 7, so we didn't wast any money on pictures that I could've taken better myself! We went to Texas Roadhouse and laughed about it over dinner. I went to my 6 week OB check-up and was cleared on the c-section scar(too bad I still had to heal from other scars, stupid appendix!) Tony and I had a good visit with my parents on Fri. We went and got lots of super cute pictures of Elizabeth at JC Penny. Then we went to JoLene's and FINALLY found a Christmas dress that'll fit Elizabeth, then went to Tie One On and found Tony a matching tie(I already have a dress that will match) Then we went over to Daybreak and looked through some of the new model homes(and of course found a couple we liked) that was so much fun. That night I got to visit with a great friend I've know since I was like 11, but I don't get to see very often cause she and her husband live out of state most of the time. Her little girl is getting so big, and cute! What a good week! Then Tuesday happened and it all went to pot. Tony took off to take me to my follow up appointment with the surgeon who took out my appendix, and he was concerned that I was still very sore in my abdomen, and having indigestion issues, so he ordered another CT scan for Wed morning, to check for excess fluid, and cists, and such. Here I was hoping to be cleared to work back up to full activity finally, and no, shot down. Nor was I all that thrilled to have to go through another stupid CT. Tony went back to work, and I stopped off at the preschool I worked at, and saw my kids(who are getting sooooo big I can't believe it!) and my boss is still being flakey about my job(not that I can go back to work yet anyway, but it still bugs me she's like that)Then we had a dr's appointment for Liz(as she'd been throwing up, and spitting up alot more, and just not very happy) She proved what I was trying to tell the pediatrician when I set her on the table and she threw up all over me(she was lying down and I was probably a good 2 feet away from her and she nailed me!) Liz hadn't gained as much weight as they thought she should have since the last weight check(of course does she ever!!), and she was really pail, so the dr was worried she was getting dehydrated. she told me she thought that a part of Liz's digestive tract might have a blockage, and that she'd made an appointment for her to get it checked out at Primary Children's Hospital immediately. And that if there was a blockage they'd need to do surgery! I was floored, and devistated! And officially an emotional mess, I wasn't really feeling all that great myself, but the thought of my 6 week old having surgery was too much. I called tony in tears, and told him I didn't even know how to get to primaries from there, nor was my head in it. My wonderful sister in law Ketty drove us up there and they did an ultra-sound on Elizabeth, they gave her some water to drink, and found that there was no blockage(thank heaven!!)So her pediatrician called and said she just has severe reflux disease(oh is that all?!!) and that she'll call in a prescription. The next morning I endured yet another CT Scan, which they called later and said was clear, and my symptoms should clear up in a week or so(yipee). Well I started feeling like I had the flu again, but i was determined not to go back to St. Marks Hospital, so I lay in bed in complete misery, being a horrible mom and just letting Liz stay in her swing all afternoon. Tony stayed home from class to take care of Liz and I once again tried to take a healing shower as my body now felt like every bone in it was being crushed from the inside. When I got out of the shower and back in bed i realized my arms and legs were burning, when I looked at my arm I saw a rash from my hand up, on both arms and legs. Tony insisted we go back to the ER. I REALLY REALLY didn't want to, can you see now why I hate the ER??!! they plague me!! Tony convinced me we needed to go, so reluctantly I did. When we got back to a room they tried to get an IV started, but of course I have no veins left, I'm completely dehydrated, in immense pain, and feeling very very sick. The IV specialist even looked in my neck for a vein and couldn't find one! So he pulled in a little ultra-sound machine and found a vein that way(this is of course after being poked 4 times already) they pumped fluids in me, took lots of blood, did a urine test, and concluded that I had a viral infection, they doped me up on some stellar narcotics gave me a couple prescriptions and sent us home. Thanks...again..to Tony's parents for taking Elizabeth on no notice while I'm becoming far too acquainted to St. Marks ER. My mom came and helped out with her Thurs, thanks mom! Fri I put on a brave face, and lots of makeup and Tony's parents took us to Tony's work Halloween party(cause I was not about to drive a car, I didn't feel nearly that good) We went to 20 mins of our wards trunk or treat, then left with no more candy to give out. Sat morning we went to urgent care yet again, because just to add one more thing, I got an ear infection!! We went up to my parents and visited and had a good time. Sun was Linda Elizabeth's blessing day. It went very well, we had alot of support. I am fervently praying this week I can work on healing and feeling better for the first time in a long time, cause I don't know how much more I can take, my will is already broken, I'm running on empty,I have absolutely nothing more to give. There is definitely only one set of footprints in the sand.

Bad bad week

So this time last week I was telling you that i thought i had a 24 hour bug. Boy was I WRONG!!! So Tues afternoon I was soooooo very hungry, as I'd only eaten saltines for a couple days, that I ate a couple pop tarts, and when they stayed down, I had chicken nuggets for dinner, well shortly thereafter my stomach started hurting again, and I thought I'd over done it with dinner, I didn't sleep at all that night and by 2:30am I was really in pain(which says alot since I have a pain tolerance, anyway)by 4:30am I was pacing back and forth on my side of the bed, trying to get the pain to ease up, but nothing helped, not sitting not laying, not walking nothing, so eventually I decided to take a hot shower(which turned out to be a great thing) cause hot water is very calming to me, it did help a little while I was in the shower but once I got out the pain was back in full force. Finally at about 6:30am I decided I couldn't make it any longer, and we drove to the emergency room, as we parked I remembered how very much I HATE emergency rooms(I don't know very many people who like them but I've had some bad experiences, so they kinda give me panic attacks) Tony asked if I thought I could make it til the urgent care opened at 8am, I said ya, so we drove over there, and sat it the parking lot for 50 mins. When we finally got to see the dr, he had me lie down which alone hurt, then he pushed on my stomach and even to my surprise it hurt REALLY bad on the right side only. I honestly was thinking I had a really bad case of the stomach flu, or possibly an ulcer at the worst, he had me give them a urine sample, and when that came back clear, he told us he wanted us to go to the emergency room(shutter)cause he was concerned that I might have appendicitis. So we really should've just stayed at the emergency room after all, but I didn't think it was that severe. And this is when the fun began!(note the sarcasm) They asked me for another urine sample, but as I hadn't eaten or had anything to drink(they told me not to) and I'd just given all I had like a half hour before, I wasn't sure I could, but after about 10 mins or so, I got up and managed it. Then they presented me with the worse Crystal light ever made!! as it had some culture in it to help illuminate your organs for a CT scan, it was way nasty, and I had to drink like 32 oz of the crap, it was gross. Then there was the IV. Lets just say you can still see all five places the needles went in, and in this case 5th time(3rd nurse)was the charm. At that point I couldn't tell which hurt more my arms or my stomach. They gave me a little morphine, and alot of liquids, oh and some anti-nausea meds, cause after the IV I really felt like throwing up. Then we sat there for hours, on the most uncomfortable bed with only one pillow, Tony rolled up his jacket for me to use, bless his heart! Then they finally took me to the CT scan, which is loads of fun it tells you when to breath, and then despite the fact that your frightened out of your mind, it wants you to hold your breath!! Ha ha ha very funny, I think they had to run my test like 3 times, cause I kept letting air out. Oh and then they put some different culture in the IV that makes your insides get all warm, and then you get the sensation your wetting yourself(which of course catches you off guard, so you once again forget to hold your breath!) When those good times were over we went back to the room, and waited some more. Then the nurse came in and said that the results came back positive and my appendix looked really "hot" on the test. Then the dr came in and said I did have appendicitis and that she suggests I get it taken out. Then the surgeon comes in and explains how it's done and all the vital organs in the way that could be potentially damaged, and I'm thinking I'll just die thanks! jk But it's way better than staying in the hospital for days, getting an antibiotic and hoping it goes away for good(which it rarely does) So then things start going fast(just when I'm in no hurry to be cut open...again) The next thing I know there are nurses everywhere, randomly asking me my name and birthday, and hooking things onto my bed. We barely squeezed in time for tony to give me a blessing. Then I was being wheeled away in my bed, to pre-op, where I lay for heaven only knows how long, probably not as long as it felt, told a few more nurses my name and birthday, then talked to the nice man who would put me asleep(my only friend in that place) Then he wheeled me to the door of the operating room and left me, staring into operating room #9. Great pre-show!! Just what I wanted to see! Then I finally get into the OR, they crack a couple of jokes I'm too nervous to get, my only friend tells me to count down from ten, I get to 8 and the next thing I know, some nurse is shaking me, and Tony is telling me I can't be sleeping beauty cause he couldn't wake me up.(maybe he's just not exactly prince charming?!JK he really is I was just WAY gone!)I would've thought to use this great sarcastic comeback at the time but groggy doesn't even begin to describe it! They tell me all I have to do is go to the bathroom and I can go home, so I suck down the water and apple juice, and did my business. They took the horrid IV out(which seemed a bit of a shame after all the work it took to get it in)and my mom helped me get my clothes back on, and off we went, I spent the next two days mostly sleeping, and taking Loritab to make the pain go away. So that was my week. This week should be better, assuming my gallbladder doesn't decide to abandon ship too. ;)
