The annual Johnston camp was up at the Spruces this year over the long Labor Day weekend. My and Tony's parents went up Thursday to get their RV's parked. The Nester's came up Friday evening and we got up there just before bedtime, but we let the kids run around and expel some energy first. We stayed with my parents in their motorhome, which was very nice! They had lots of fun exploring until it was time for bed. Saturday the Nester's provided a delicious breakfast. Ketty gave Devin a piece of texas toast bread, and he enjoyed most of it, then left the last little bit on the kiddie table and a pesky squirrel took off with it...that squirrel was a big nuisance all weekend! Devin was very sad that his bread had been taken, so he protected his next piece better! It was a nice laid back weekend of visiting and letting the kids just run and play to their hearts content. My parents provided lots of entertainment with their volleyball/badminton net and frisbee toss game. Devin had lots of fun with Landen and he was such a good sport to go along with him! Russ, Alicia and their kids came up after lunch, and Elizabeth loved having Melina around to play with. Devin had some quiet time in his bunk, and grandma and grandpa put a Barbie movie on for the kids in their trailer. My parents, Tony and I were in charge of dinner Saturday night, we just did simple hamburgers and hot dogs but I think it was good! Sunday Russ did his mountain man breakfast which was good and filling, then we chatted while the kids played some more, then in the afternoon we sat around in a circle in the sun trying to warm up...it was a cold day! We snacked and visited then my parents pulled out their bag of Nerf guns and we had fun shooting at
the squirrel a pop can. Elizabeth had pretty darn good aim! And Devin just loved watching it fly! After lunch Matt, Steph and family came up. Devin had some quiet time and Elizabeth was playing with Melina. Not long after Devin went in the motorhome we heard Elizabeth scream and cry out. She was attempting to jump over an empty fire pit, but didn't make it and landed on her foot wrong. She said her ankle hurt really bad, so we gave her some pain meds and had her rest in her bunk as well. After an hour or so she still wasn't able to put any weight on her foot, so we took her to an Insta Care to be sure it wasn't broken...which it wasn't thankfully, just sprained REALLY bad, they wrapped it up and told her to stay off it for a few days. (which is SUPER easy for an ADHD five year old ya know?!) They held dinner off a bit for us to get there, Tony's parents did chicken strips, fries and cabbage, which was super yummy. They also had a peach cobbler for dessert that was delicious! We visited around the campfire for a while then went to bed. Monday we had a pancake breakfast provided by Tony's parent's, then started packing up. And that was out super fun Johnston camp, Labor Day weekend!
