RSV...again
Last Wednesday Devin had his two week check up, but the day before he started coughing so I'd been keeping an eye on his temp, it was consistently staying at 99.1, but when I took it that morning it was 100.6 so I called Tony and he got his mom coming our way then I called the pediatrician's office and they told me what I already knew that we'd have to take him to Primaries ER, which we did, they gave him some tylenol to bring the fever down then they proceeded to do test after test...they took blood(multiple times actually) they took a urine and stool sample, a nasal swab and the hardest part to watch was the spinal tap which they didn't get on the first poke, I was writhing with him, I wanted so very badly to spare him of that but he trooped through, I very nearly passed out though it probably didn't help I hadn't eaten. They put an IV in his tiny hand, which I think bothered me more than it did him. It didn't take long for his swab to turn up a positive RSV diagnosis, but they still wanted to be sure nothing more was going on. Then we spent a good amount of time waiting for our hospital room to be ready, Elizabeth thankfully was super good through it all. Once Devin and I were settled in the room Sandy took Liz with her and I stayed with little guy while they deep suctioned him again, and hooked him up to everything. They couldn't believe how much crap they suctioned out of such a little guy, they were also very impressed how well his lungs were handling it. The next day his lungs started to wear out a bit and they did have to put him on some oxygen. The nurse was thrilled when I told her I had a dr's appointment so she'd have to stay in the room with him and feed him...she held and rocked him the whole time I was gone! My appointment went well my incision is healing beautifully, then Tony and I went to Robentino's for lunch it was so yummy! This day was St, patty's day...Devin's first and he was two weeks old so I took a few pics of him awake, I'm going to get some pics of the kids in their shirts another day(Tony's mom was kind enough to get Elizabeth a very cute St. Patty's shirt) Friday they told me if I felt comfortable bulb suctioning Devin and taking oxygen home that we could go home, which I willingly accepted! Saturday we called the pediatrician's office and got a prescription to the suction clinic at IMC so we could get him deep suctioned as I just wasn't able to get everything with the bulb. Tony then took Elizabeth to our niece Caitlin's birthday party, when they got back we dropped the kids off at Taunja's house(she's the best Relief Society president ever!) she watched the kids for us while we went to look for Easter outfits. We found Elizabeth's dress, but didn't have any luck with Devin's outfit, then we went to dinner at Red Robin. Devin slept the entire time, didn't hardly move a muscle! Sunday Tony and Liz went to church then that night we took Devin to get deep suctioned again, I was hoping it would help him breathe better for his appointment Monday morning but no such luck, his oxygen levels were just as bad(off the help of the oxygen)as they were in the hospital, so we were told to keep him on the oxygen for another week. His cough just shatters my heart into pieces and when he gags, and struggles to breathe I just want to be able to make it all go away, but of course I can't. Hopefully he starts on the uphill of recovery soon!

Poor Devin--I hope he gets feeling better soon. I'm glad to hear you are recovering well, too. Oh, and Ginny has that same navy blue striped dress that Liz has on, and they both look so cute in it!!! I love little girl dresses. :)
