Summer School!!
We (okay I) was late finishing Elizabeth's kindergarten curriculum, part of that though was that we took a few weeks off in May to get ready for go on and recover from our family Disneyland trip. So anyway we didn't finish "school" until near the end of June, then I gave her a couple weeks off while I put together a plan for her summer program...which is WAY more laid back! I just wanted something to help her retain all the basic scholastic skills she's gained the past several months, but I didn't want it to be too pushy. I wanted it to be fun and different than what we usually do. And thanks to the wonder that is Pinterest I found something I LOVE!! It's a gospel based preschool program, that covers letters(and their sounds), writing(lots of writing...mwhahahaha!!)but it's so much fun she almost doesn't realize how much she's writing! It has math, colors, big and small, opposites...and so much more! It follows the alphabet so A was for Adam(we talked about Adam and Eve and how Adam was the first prophet and such) every gospel concept comes with a primary song and simple scripture. B was for baptism and C was for creation. I've of course added a bit to it since it's WAY too simple for Elizabeth, but I wanted something that just keeps her learning skills primed so pretty much all she's learning new is about the gospel principals we go in depth about....everything else she already knows. In circle time we go over her sight words(I usually correlate them with the letter of the week if I can) we go over her sign language and Spanish words as well. Then we talk about the gospel principal then go to the table for the printable worksheets. Then her favorite time...science!! For A we learned about absorption(I didn't get any pictures though:( ) For B we learned about the chemical reaction between Baking Soda and vinegar, I called it B is for Baking Soda making Bubbles! We also Blew up a Balloon with Baking soda and vinegar! C we learned about Color mixing, we talked about the primary colors and how when mixed together they make the other colors. It's been lots of fun! Well here are some pictures of our fun science projects!
