Ok so the past couple weeks have been a little crazy but lots of fun. To start off, a couple weekends ago was our annual Holbrook family camp at Palasade's. It was a lot of fun, even if the lake was just a little puddle. It was sad to look at but they needed the water for local farmers, brings the whole "slow the flow" thing to frightening reality! There really is only so much water, and seeing that lake all but gone really brought that to light for me! Anyway Tony got off early Friday I packed us up, and we got up there by about 6...in time for dinner! Saturday my parents watched the kiddos while Eric, Jen, Tony and I went to go golfing. When we got there though the pricing was outrageous! So we bagged it and drove into Ephraim thinking we'd maybe catch a movie....ya they only had TWO movies showing and only ONE matinee time! So plan C formed. We went to The Malt Shop which was...eh ok, took forever to get our food. Then we went to the bowling alley and played a couple games....funnest time ever!! Jen kicked all our trash, I barely broke 100(minor detail, that was both games combined!), Tony did win the second game though! Next year we're just going to go to the bowling alley right off and eat and play there....we had such a great time!!! Our cute kids had fun with nana and papa too, playing with bubble guns...playing in water...playing volleyball and badminton! It was such a fun great weekend! Even without boating or golf! Although hopefully next year we'll be able to boat again as it is a lot of fun.
Last week Devin had OT Tuesday morning, which didn't go real great...he was having an off day and didn't want to do anything but get mad, and feeding therapy went the same way. Devin can be super frustrating sometimes...luckily the good days are definitely starting to outnumber the "off days" when it seems nothing is what he wants or makes him happy. It seems like everything you do just makes him more upset...but when you don't do anything he gets mad too....so it really feels like you just can't win! Luckily he took a good nap and was good for his Aunt Ketty, who I gave him to at her work then took Elizabeth to her UTI follow-up appointment. It did not go well. I was shocked when her urine sample came back positive for a UTI...it didn't go away!! So they put Elizabeth on a stronger antibiotic, and her pediatrician and I reviewed her past UTI's and it turns out her first two infections were actually Kidney Infections, but these last two were true UTI's...so her doctor said she was relieved that there wasn't too much damage to her kidneys but said that Elizabeth would need to have a VCUG done(they stick a catheter up to her bladder fill it up with liquid contrast watch on an ultrasound(type machine) have her pee and watch that as well) Overall it's nasty and painful and so very not fun, and we tried anyway to justify not doing it but we just can't risk the possibility of severe reflux in Elizabeth, so somewhat reluctantly I agreed to it. Poor girl! What is with her and all her problems! It seems like just one thing after another with her! It's like her body REFUSES to be healthy for more than 6 months at a time, absolutely refuses!! Between her and Devin I feel like our life is run by medical stuff...between therapies, doctors and tests, we RARELY have a week without at least one(usually 2,3 or 4) medical things for one, the other or both of them! This week has been one of those rare opportunities where we haven't had to go do any medical stuff, though I have had to schedule and follow up on medical stuff. Next week though we have OT and feeding therapy(at the clinic), Devin's 18 month check-up, Elizabeth's 2nd UTI follow-up, and Elizabeth's VCUG test. And what is sad is...THAT is more of a typical week for us!! I must admit I really envy parents with healthy kids, that go to wellness check-ups, and the occasional sick appointment. Between them our children have a couple DOZEN doctors! It's so bad I have to write them down along with where they're at and what, and who they're for! Granted more than half are for Devin(Spectrum kids have a lot of specialists!),but still it's crazy!! Sorry for the rant....I've been feeling overwhelmed and stressed about it all lately. It's A LOT to keep track of and on top of!
So back to fun stuff! I almost forgot Elizabeth started gymnastics at The Little Gym back up again two Mondays ago! And she was super super excited!! She's so happy to be back at The Little Gym! Friday we started getting stuff for Elizabeth's friend princess party in a couple weeks. I can't believe how fast it's coming up!!
This past Saturday my parents came down and my dad helped Tony with building the organizer bench, and my mom, Elizabeth and I went out while Devin was napping. Elizabeth got to play at the play place at McDoland's, she always wants to but because it's just too difficult with Devin she rarely gets to, so she thoroughly enjoyed herself!! Then we went to Payless and got her some nice new sneakers for fall. Her feet are now a whopping size 9 1/2!! I had a 30% off coupon so I got them for 9 bucks! Then we went to Zurchers, and got some more things for Elizabeth's party. Then to Deseret Book where my mom got a book she wanted, then to Seagull Book, as they had a game she wanted for 75% off! I picked up some fun things too! They have such great clearance stuff! Then we headed back home as Devin was waking. It took Tony and my dad til about 9 pm to finish the bench(building it anyway). Sunday after church Tony took Elizabeth to the pool and they had a great time!
Monday Tony took a sick(of work)day and finished painting the bench organizer. And we got caught up on some much needed cleaning and organizing. While Devin was down for his nap Elizabeth and I went to the library to pick up books I had on hold for school, we couldn't help but find some other good books to borrow as well! ;) We dropped off a bunch of stuff at the DI, then went in and looked around for a bit. Elizabeth found a new Pony(she's really into My Little Pony right now)and for 50 cents I couldn't say no! I found some books and a pair of church shoes for Devin! We took care of a couple other things then headed home. After dinner we took Elizabeth to gymnastics then went to IKEA to pick up the bins for our bench organizer...and some yummy cinnamon rolls! ;) We came home put the kids to bed then one of our home teachers helped Tony bring in the very heavy bench, then we organized the toys...it works perfectly!! I just love it!! I can't wait til my school stuff organizer is done as well! Downstairs will be so much nicer and better organized! Tony is hoping to have it done by the 10th when I'm going to start Elizabeth's "mommy school". Well enjoy the pics!
