Life and Times of The Johnston family: Weekend at Antelope Island!

This past weekend we spent our first weekend of the year in the motorhome with my parents at Antelope Island, and Tony's parents were there too! As soon as Tony got home Friday we loaded up in the motorhome and headed out. We got there and set up then had dinner and visited, the kids had fun playing with toys in their bunks, then we got them ready for bed let them watch a show in Devin's bunk then it was bedtime. Saturday Elizabeth woke up earlier than we would have liked but it helped us get an early start on the day(not that we needed it but...) my mom made a delicious breakfast casserole that we scarfed all up! The kids played for a bit then we got dressed and ready for the day. Tony took the kids over to his parents' trailer for a couple hours while I enjoyed some rare quite time, it was so nice!! We got everyone lunch at the Buffalo Grill and we ate it at the motorhome as it was pretty chilly. After lunch we put Devin down for his nap, and Elizabeth went for a ride with Tony's parents around the island and they reported that she fell asleep for a good 45 minutes! And she helped them count animals they saw. Tony and I drove back to "the mainland" as I like to call it, to let Shadow out to do her business, then we went on what turned out to be quite the hunt for Girl Scout cookies, we assumed there would be a booth at Walmart or Smiths or Kmart....but nooooo! We finally found some at a Macey's in Clinton, but it was destined to be as the troop selling cookies was a Daisy troop! And they just so happen to be close to where we live! So I talked to them about Elizabeth joining their troop and they said they'd be thrilled to have her as they are a small troop and always welcome new girls! So all I have to do now is finish her registration and Elizabeth will officially be a Girl Scout! I don't who is more excited her or me! After buying lots of cookies(we were buying for my parents as well) we went back to Antelope Island, and Tony's parents came with us to the Visitors Center, where we looked around for a while then wandered through the gift shop where our kids suffered a serious case of the Gimmies! Devin actually did better than Elizabeth when told he couldn't have the binoculars he wanted, Elizabeth full on lost it at hearing we would not be buying the stuffed deer she'd found and that she didn't have any of her own money to buy it with as she'd spent it all on Frozen toys a couple weeks ago. We got them each a post card so they wouldn't leave totally empty handed which helped a little but Elizabeth really struggled. After that since the weather was really nice we let the kids play outside of Tony's parents' trailer while his dad cooked dinner. They had such a great time playing with their scooter/ride on firetruck, with each other and especially with their daddy! Dinner was delicious and after we all watched ~~Elizabeth act out~~ Frozen, but really she was so stinkin. adorable and entertaining! She is so passionate about that show it's hilarious to watch her watch it! Especially during the Let It Go sequence! Priceless!! Devin has developed a serious sense of fear lately as a tiny caterpillar caused him to freeze up and cry in fear...but that was nothing to what seeing the snow monster did to him, true severe fear there! So he covered his ears and hid with me until that part was over. After the movie it was bedtime for all! Sunday Tony's parents provided a yummy pancake breakfast per Elizabeth's request, we visited some more, then went back to my parents' motorhome and just chilled while the kids played, until we had stayed as long as we could and headed home. It was a very nice getaway weekend!

Playing in their bunks...it's such a novelty the first time of the year!
