Okay so at the very end of November my parents, Sarah and I went to Opening Night of The Festival of Trees. Sarah is my older cousin who I've always felt was a bit of a stand in for my big sister Linda Kay, who didn't get to be here on earth with us. It was a really fun night and I'm so thankful we could spend the night together! At this point Tony was in Vernal working during the week and came home on weekends which left me flying solo during the week with the kiddos so a night away was wonderful! Then Friday Dec. 2nd my mom took Jen, Daniel, the kid and I to The Festival of trees. The kids had such a great time!! We first made an appointment to see Santa as always, then went and looked at trees and did some fun things until it was our time. Unfortunately there was a very large special needs school group in front of us, and they just kinda did there own thing. So Devin started into meltdown mode and was sure it was never going to be his turn! Luckily he survived long enough to sit on Santa's lap and tell him(sorta) that he wanted a PJ Masks Headquarters for Christmas. Elizabeth was a trooper waiting while Devin was dying on the floor, and letting both younger boys go before her. She was very sweet with Santa and asked him for J.J. the Jumping Pug. I have to get the pictures from my mom, then I'll add them later. After that we just let the kids enjoy the crafts and activities and fun trees! Nana even let each of the kids pick out a fun treat! It's a great tradition!
I took these opening night, since Tony couldn't go I took some I though he'd want to see, and some I wasn't sure the kids would make it to.
I followed Devin around the kiddie area while my mom kept an eye on Lizzy. Devin at the Giving Tree.
Making a snowman puppet.
Fishing!
This is a favorite!
Back to the giving tree...he wasn't much into the crafts this year.
Talking to an elf,(though I doubt if Devin did much talking! When Lizzy did it I bet the elf didn't do much talking!!) Lizzy did this too and it was there definite favorite!
She was actually able to blow a bubble from it!
Awesome pirate ship the kids thought Nana should have in her pirate playroom! ;)
Cool dollhouse.
Fun Puppet theater!
Big playhouse!
Other happenings.
Super fun Lego countdown! I'm not sure who was more excited about it Tony or the kids(who am I kidding it was Tony!!) :)
We always take December off of school, the kids can never focus well enough to actually accomplish anything, so we do lots of fun activities instead!
She stacked the Legos taller than her!
Shadow has such a rough life! ;)
Lizzy did a great job keeping up with the daily Lego builds in Tony's absence!
Another fun craft! Lizzy is much more into them than Devin.
They REALLY wanted to decorate the playroom, so we found this little tree and some decorations we've had for it for a while, and my mom gave them some extra decorations to put up around the room. They had so much fun with it!
Even Olive and Oscar(her Bitty Twins) dressed in their Christmas best and helped!
They both had to put the star on together!
The rest of the room looking very festive!
Putting Christmas decorations on Linda Kay's and Eric's headstones.
This year we made rice krispie "cookies" to decorate as we found a fun kit at Walmart!
Devin actually touched it!!
Then ran promptly to go wash his hands. :)
Lizzy didn't mind it at all!!
Tony frosted them, so that it would get on the rice krispie and there would be enough for all of them!
We of course were watching A Muppet's Christmas Carol while decorating as is tradition!
Now to the fun part....decorating them!
The frosting was gooooooood! :)
Lizzy teaching kit how to ice skate.
Sitting by the tree with Olive....listening to Christmas music.
They thought Shadow should have a turn wearing the Santa hat!
She is not amused! Lol!!
Another art activity.
Devin took breaks from it and played with the train....he LOVES that thing!
Walker family Christmas party!
Build a bear had their semi-annual two for like $35 I think it is, so naturally the kids talked us into it.
Meet Kitty Cat and Buddy!
Buddy is taking a ride on Shadow, who is wondering why we had to have children...LOL!
Devin sleeping with Kitty Cat. So sweet!
Shadow thought she'd join the line of animals. It's just a good thing she didn't ruin the line or Devin would've been MAD at her!!
Devin's line of stuffies!
