Liz's Wellness Check and Painting Pumpkins!
This past week was kinda busy! Monday was typical, school and Elizabeth's theater class. Tuesday was typical as well, preschool/school, oh ya Devin switched to Tue/Thurs for preschool because there are less....well honestly, hard kids like Devin, so they have more time to deal with him. :) He really hates having to leave and go to preschool but always reports having fun after so we endure the "I don't want to go" and I hate preschool" battles twice a week. Wednesday morning was Elizabeth's wellness check, so I dropped Devin off with my wonderful cousin Mary who he ADORES and braced myself for impact.....I know she's underweight as I've been weighing her. I've also been trying to fatten her up, but it didn't seem to do much good. She's barely gained a pound since last year(she was almost 41 pounds last year and she's not quite 42 pounds this year), but she's grown a few inches(she's now 46.5 inches tall!) which has sent her BMI plummeting through the floor. It was less than 5%....which is not good. We discussed some things, and Elizabeth has enough symptoms of Celiac Disease that we need to get a blood sample to test for it....that is going to be ugly and I'm only really avoiding doing it. I mean it took me over TWENTY minutes to convince her to let ME put drops in her eyes to dilate them at the eye doctor. There is NO way under heaven ANYONE is going to convince her to let them put a needle in her arm and take out her blood!!! But it must be done. :/ I plan on ending her world next Monday....may the odds be ever in MY favor! Long visit short she had me schedule a behavior consult so we could more fully discuss all that's going on with our gorgeous girl and to see if we can get down to the main source of trouble. She did tell me to find a therapist who does cognitive behavior therapy for her. Hopefully we'll figure out more at her next appointment which isn't until December 2nd. She did as always truly enjoy talking with miss Elizabeth...she thinks she's a hoot! And so fun to talk to! Elizabeth was able to get the Flu mist this year since her asthma hasn't flared up in the past few months....she did however react to it and by Friday was sniffling, congested and achy. :( But she was SOOOOOO happy not to have to get a shot!! After her appointment because she did so well we stopped by McDonald's and got her a kids meal...I was only going to get her one but when I saw it came with a "Book of Life" movie bucket I had to get one for Devin as well as he has been watching that trailer over and over again, and would be crushed if he didn't get one. He did at least eat the gogurt out of it! Mary kindly lent us their kitchen table to eat lunch on. Mary and I chatted for a while then we headed home. That afternoon was their Bravo classes. That night for Family Home Evening we had the kids paint their pumpkins, which they thoroughly enjoyed! Thursday was just preschool/school That evening Tony put the Mr. Potato Head pumpkin accessories into the kids pumpkins. We picked them up after Halloween last year on clearance and they're way cute! Friday was school and Spanish with my mom for Elizabeth and shortly after her Spanish lesson was over our new Leap TV arrived! I ended up being less than impressed with the kids' Nabi's so we're going to sell them on Ebay and should get more than enough to cover the Leap TV....which is an awesome combination of learning and playing! And I especially love the range, the same game has Devin identifying numbers and Elizabeth adding or subtracting on a 2nd grade level!! I got it all set up myself so that goes to show how simple it is! And the kids enjoyed the afternoon with the Pet Playground it comes with and the Dance and Learn game we purchased with it. Amazingly even the Pet Playground has learning games!! I was also super impressed that even my uncoordinated 3 and 6 years olds found(different)ways of successfully using the controller. Elizabeth prefers the thumb stick and Devin prefers to use it as a pointer(like a Wii remote) and they both figured out the body movement mode pretty well I did have to help them understand to look on the tv and see what they were doing on screen. It was a super fun Friday thing!! That night Tony brought home the only Chinese I truly like from Wak Lins in Bountiful, I LOVE their ham fried rice!! We...well really I endured yet another sad BYU football game, Tony just couldn't watch after a while. About midnight Elizabeth came to our bedroom door saying she didn't feel good, I felt her and she was HOT! I took her temp and it was nearly 104 degrees so we gave her some medicine and a damp cloth on her forehead. Tony stayed with her until she fell back asleep...it was kind of a long night! And I'll do a separate post about our fun busy Saturday!
