Wow so it's been a while since I've posted and it's definitely not for a lack of fun things going on!! I've been waiting to post hoping to get pictures off my new fancy phone...but we can't get them off at the moment, so I might have to do another post with those pictures. Anywho...so a week ago Tuesday Elizabeth and I went to our Relief Society annual Swim party, and she had so so sooooo much fun with the young women in the pool...she was the only one in the pool under 12 but she managed to fit right in! It was as it always is a very fun time! Landen and Emily(our niece and nephew) have started coming over three days a week to spend some of their summer vacation with us and our pool, and Elizabeth is thrilled about it! They have so much fun in the pool! Devin does pretty good, but isn't quite the fish Elizabeth was, even at his age, but he manages to have some fun too, he just doesn't last as long. Last Friday Elizabeth filled up her "being good" sticker chart(which takes 90 stickers! She gets to pick a prize for every ten stickers she earns) so for her big reward we went to the drive in theater! She was so excited to watch a movie from the car and then when we told her she got to go in her pj's she was overjoyed!! We saw Madagascar 3 as Elizabeth really likes the first two, and she loved this one two! It's actually a really cute movie, just as good as the first two...as least I think so! Devin of course didn't fare so well and Tony ended up wandering around pushing him in the stroller until he fell asleep but by then the movie was mostly over. But Elizabeth had a great time and that's what was important! On Saturday we had our nephew Jordan's birthday party, and Elizabeth had tons of fun with her cousins! Especially her cousin Melina! Devin thrilled and surprised us by willingly and wantingly walking right up to his Aunt Alicia(A-lee-see-a, not to be confused with A-lee-sha, as there are both in the family ;)) and he even let her pick him up for a second! Which is a huge step in his social development, and his OT was very pleased to hear about it! Saturday evening we went swimming after dinner and Elizabeth and Devin both loved having daddy to play with! It was alot of fun!! Daddy came swimming with us again Monday night but the water was kinda cold, and it was pretty windy so we didn't last quite as long, but it was still very fun!
Devin has sure been filling up my schedule lately...what with Speech and Physical therapy on Monday, Occupational and Feeding therapy on Tuesday and an appointment with the Child Developmental Pediatrician today! Even she was a bit taken aback with Devin's severity of Autistic tendencies at his very young age, but she signed off on his diagnosis of Autism as well, so it's pretty much official, now we just have to wait for him to turn 18 months old(as this is the youngest age the government with allow a diagnosis) and then he will officially be diagnosed as Autistic. She was encouraged by his eye contact which isn't nearly as bad as alot of Autistic kids, but said that everything else fell pretty severe on the spectrum. She said their psychiatrist has his work cut out for him in Devin as he's got some pretty crazy stuff going on inside his head. Next week he has his speech evaluation at the Child Development Clinic as he needs doubling up therapy in that area, because lack of communication is a huge "trigger" for his meltdowns. Right now he pretty much has no way at all to tell us what he wants and/or needs, and it's frustrating to both him and us! Then on the 18th he meets with the psychiatrist...yes our 16 month old now has a psychiatrist! Kinda crazy but apparently very helpful in situations like Devin's...I'm interested to see what he makes of our little Devin buddy. Cause frankly we're at a loss with our handsome boy and we'd love to know why the TV has to be on in order for him to function at all, and why every teeny tiny thing upsets him to the point of throwing himself on the floor and banging his head on it, and hopefully he will be the one who can give us insights into that. It's kind of a scary road we've started down with Devin, but I hope and pray that at the end of it is more understanding for us and a better functioning Devin and mostly less frustration all around!
Well here are some pictures of the kids having fun at the pool!
All tuckered out from such a fun day at the pool!
This is one of the fun "summer crafts" Elizabeth has done, it's a message board! She put her name and all the words on it all by herself!! I was very impressed!
This is a video of Elizabeth jumping into the pool!
