A Very Fun Halloweeney Weekend!

This past week has been tough on Devin and us and he's got a tummy virus that's had him throwing up, a few times and he's had really bad diarrhea all week...poor little buddy!  Tuesday Devin had OT and Dani brought some new toys to learn and play with...Devin took it VERY badly.  He didn't want anything to do with them or her.  This week Elizabeth's school lessons were "G is for Golden Plates" and nocturnal animals!  She learned alot about Nephi getting the plates and Moroni burying them in the mountainside, then leading Joseph Smith to them and how they became The Book of Mormon.  She really enjoyed it!  She loved learning about nocturnal animals as well, and she told me one day that "I definitely do not want to be nocturnal cause I'm afraid of the dark....and is pitch dark all night!!"  :) Thursday we had the first snow of fall, and both kids were excited about it!  Friday my mom came down and brought the kids square pumpkin meals from Arctic Circle which they were thrilled about, they especially loved the jack-o-latern and ghost flashlights that came in them!  After Devin was down for his nap, my mom did a Spanish lesson with Elizabeth.
Here are just some fun pictures from the week!

On Thursday I finally bribed and blackmailed talked Elizabeth into letting me get video of her reading...she only asked that it not be a "hard, sound out lots of words, book", so I found a simple reader book I bought from the library when they had one of their fill a bag of books for $1.  She read through it Wednesday and I attempted to get it on video then but the phone kept ringing!  So this is actually her second time reading it, which is why she didn't have to sound out as many words(although some of the words she sounds out in her head). But it's still amazing to me that at barely 4 she is so good at reading and it's becoming more and more easy for her! *warning the video is long, but I wasn't about to rush her! ;)*

Friday night the local Lutheran church(which just so happens to be right next to our ward house)was having a trunk or treat, so we put the kids in their cute costumes and took them to it.  Devin was completely not so sure of the whole thing, but Elizabeth really enjoyed it!

Saturday was a very full....very fun day!  We started bright and early with Boo at the Zoo, my parents joined us once again and we met up with them just before 8am(since we have a booster pass we got in an hour early)and it was so much less crowded!  It was however very cold!  So Elizabeth didn't fare real well...and I didn't take as many pictures, but it was very fun and both the kids enjoyed themselves even if by our last treat stop Elizabeth was crying and Devin needed his headphones with music and sunglasses...Elizabeth had a fun ride on the "baby zebra"(it was the smaller of the two) on the carousel and Devin said "rarrr" every time the lion passed!  After we'd collected all the candy there was, we went to the newly remodeled Cafe and had breakfast and hot chocolate, thanks to my parents for that!

After Boo at the Zoo we went home, got Elizabeth's clothes changed for her missionary primary activity, which she reported really loving!  Devin fell asleep for his nap only a little while before I had to go pick her up from the activity, so we let him sleep for a while, then we went up to my grandparents so they could see them in their cute halloween costumes and then visited for a while, then we went up to my parents house for a little Halloween party, and dinner!

And tonight is the Johnston Halloween party!

So fun! I love the videos, especially the last one, Devin is so cute saying "rawr".
