Columbus, Dentist, Pumpkins and a Fun Saturday!

Monday was of course Columbus Day, so Elizabeth and I talked about the holiday and why we celebrate Christopher Columbus...it was pretty fun.  This week was also "E" is for Enoch(and Elizabeth!!) Monday Devin had speech therapy and Audria was super impressed with all the words he can say now!  His speech "explosion" seems to be starting earlier than anticipated and that thrills us!!  Devin now has almost 20 words in his vocabulary...which is where they wanted him by two, so he's 5 months early!!!! YAY for Devin!!!  He's finally starting to understand and do "parroting", so we say a word and sometimes he'll try to say it back to you which is very exciting!  Needless to say it was a GREAT session!  Tuesday Elizabeth and I discussed Columbus some more and Enoch as well.  Wednesday afternoon our good friend/neighbor Debora came and sat with Devin(while he napped), and I took Elizabeth to the dentist for the first time!(we've been meaning to take her for over a year but just finally got it done!)  She did really well!  She was pretty worried at first at having to lay down flat(she's had some pretty nasty stuff done to her lately after lying down for doctors recently so I don't really blame her) but once the hygienist explained that she was just going to brush her teeth and she could watch the tv she was very cooperative!  The hygienist used her new princess Belle toothbrush(and some dental tools) to get her teeth, "sparkly clean!" she watched her Max and Ruby show for a bit while we waited to get X-rays done.  The hygienist was amazed that she didn't have to redo any of the "pictures"!  Elizabeth sat perfectly still for all of them!  Go Elizabeth!  After that Elizabeth didn't really want to have to wait for the dentist so the hygienist asked if she wanted to read a book, and Elizabeth got a Clifford book and sat down and started reading it to her, Elizabeth assumed "do you want to read a book", meant she was expected to read it!  Elizabeth read about 4 pages before the dentist arrived, and the hygienist looked shocked and floored the entire time!  The hygienist asked Elizabeth how old she was and Elizabeth proudly said "I'm four now!"  The hygienist excitedly told the dentist, "Elizabeth just turned four and was reading to me!!"  Then she proceeded to tell everyone else she saw....it was pretty funny!  The dentist looked at Elizabeth's teeth which she let him do freely! And said they looked beautiful!  Everything looked great, except she does have a cross bite, but he said he wasn't going to worry about correcting that til most of her permanent teeth are in.  Elizabeth picked her 3 little prizes and with her new toothbrush and toothpaste bag in hand we scheduled her next appointment and were on our way.  Elizabeth thinks "the dentist is a really great guy, for making sure my teeth are good".  Wednesday evening we did Gardner Village, which is the post before this one!  Thursday and Friday Elizabeth learned about pumpkins!  How they grow, the different kinds, and the many things you can do with them!  Friday my mom came down for her Spanish lesson, and that night we had mini pizzas in our new toaster oven!!(to get us by until we can get a new oven)  It was a really great price on Amazon, and it's nice to have something to bake at least little things in.  We also had a movie night!  Saturday morning Tony took Elizabeth for some daddy daughter bonding time!  They went to Lowes little builder thingy and built a Ghoul Bus together, Elizabeth loved having her daddy all to herself and having fun with him too!  Tony plans on doing all of those shops with her that we can!  They had such a great time!(and it free!!!)  That afternoon we had lunch with my dad's dad, his wife and my dad's half sister.  Then my parents took the kids home and watched them for us(on short notice since I forgot to tell them we were planning on their help, sorry mom! :/) while Tony and I went to Desert Star's Wicked-er  it was pretty funny!  Tony and I love the time alone together to do something fun without having to deal with the kiddos!  Tonight we're having dinner with our friends/neighbors the Degan's(we kinda have a standing reservation for the 2nd Sunday of the month for dinner, we just take turns hosting it)  It's gonna be great...cause it always is!!
