This is going to be a longer series as we are going to be blogging by the day of our trip. Tony is going to be the one typing and Anni will upload the pictures (remember many hands make light work!!)
We love Disneyland and wanted to get a trip in last year, but with Tony working in Wyoming the logistics and cost would be to much. So we postponed it until the winter when he knew that he would be in the office and wanted to get away. It helps that the crowds are lower in February and we can go any time we want too. We wanted to do something different this trip and toyed around with the idea of staying at a Disney property or Flying. Were we had driven back and forth from Douglas several times we knew driving was double but heck we wanted to see how the kids would handle flying as it would open more opportunities for us to travel more and further away too! We were able to find a fair deal to fly all four of us down and decided to stay off property to help save some money on this trip. We also wanted to surprise the kids on flying but about a week before we left we decided there anxiety would not handle that so we told them. To say they were thrilled is an understatement. So wish we would have got there reaction on camera. Anni spent that week talking to the kids on what to except at the airport and on the plane. When Tony got off work on Friday we loaded up the car and drove to Clearfield to spend the night there and drop Shadow off, as Holbrooks were going to watch her while we were gone.
Saturday: The kids were up bright and early that morning as they were excited, Shoot Anni and I were both just as excited and could not fall asleep Friday night!!! We had a bite to eat and we were off to the Airport. Tony's parents were going to meet us at there and drive our car back to there place so we did not have to pay for long term parking. We got the luggage unloaded and headed to check in. We got all checked in and then we went through Security. Anni had been worried about this for a few weeks as we were not sure how the kids were going to handle it. We made it through great and the kids did really well with it. We made our way to the gate and got the disabilities boarding for both kids so boarding would be easier for them and not get stressed out. We got settled and had to wait a bit before our boarding began. Devin barely made it and we were grateful for the early boarding so he would not have to wait. The flight down was great! Devin waited patiently for the fasten seat-belt sign to go off and promptly fell asleep. Lizzy played and looked at the window a bit and before she knew it we were in LA. We found a private car that would pick us up at the airport and take us to our hotel with a stop for groceries. It worked our fair except the driver stopped at Trader Joes and we have never step foot in one before. It was a made dash to find what we needed which was a challenge where we have Devin's special diet and Lizzy being gluten free. Overall i think we did OK and made it work, however shopping at Walmart would have been much MUCH easier. We got to the hotel and checked in and settled. Then we were off to Downtown Disney!! We went to dinner that night at Rainforest Cafe, it has started to become tradition for us on our arrival day to eat there. We had a lovely meal outside and the food was good as always. We finished wondering around a bit and headed back to the hotel for the night.
Here are the pictures!
On the airplane! (Devin was sure we were NEVER going to get on the plane! He was so anxious about it.)
Lizzy playing with her new Elena of Avalor set.
Being super anxious wears ya out! He didn't even make it til his apple juice came!
We got great seats just behind the wing.
Some awesome views of Las Vegas.
Getting off the plane.
Happy Place!
I found some seriously purple shades at the Rainforest Cafe! ;)
At the hotel getting ready for bed. The kids are wearing their new matching pj's!
