A Low Key But Fun Week
This week was pretty low key, which was so nice! The weather didn't always cooperate in letting us be outside as much as we'd like but we still managed to have some fun! FHE was on the true meaning of Easter, and I'm happy with how well at least Elizabeth understood the importance of such an special holiday. Her school lesson was on the difference between the fun of Bunny Day(the day before Easter) and the meaning and great importance of Easter and what Easter means. I printed out some fun Bunny day type worksheets, and Elizabeth was actually excited to get to do a whole page of double digit addition and subtraction...and she had it down by the third problem! She also liked the creative writing papers I printed out as well, she wrote a whole little story about a little bunny searching for eggs in pretty flowers and who finally found the golden egg! I had to help her a bit with some of the spelling, but she thought it up and wrote it up all herself! School was a lot of fun this week! And most important to me is that by the end of the week she could summarize the Easter story and tell why it was important for everyone and to her. She brought me to tears on Thursday...the spirit was so strong with us. I would not trade getting to school Elizabeth for ANYTHING! The more we do it the more we love it. I have started doing ABCmouse.com with Devin and he absolutely loves it...just as much as his big sister(though she mostly uses it for playing as she's beyond the learning level it provides, now she does most of her learning on the computer on Jump Start). He is starting to recognize shapes and colors and even some letters...I love it! Let's see Tuesday was dance and tumbling, Elizabeth has made a really good friend in her class named Finnley, they are practically inseparable! I've gotten to have some good chats with Finnley's mom as well, and I think they're such good friends because Finnley is gifted and being home schooled as well. So naturally we have plenty to talk about! And we stayed a bit late this past Tuesday visiting, which our girls didn't having the extra playing time at all! Wednesday as soon as Tony got home, we used our soon to expire family night coupon and went to the Syracuse Family Fun Center for a couple games of bowling, pizza and pitcher of pink lemonade, and we had lots of fun! Devin was so OCD funny, we got our balls and Devin and I were using the same color ball, so when I went to bowl I picked up a ball and threw it(down the gutter of course....I really suck at bowling!!) and Devin started freaking out!! Apparently I had used his ball, when it came back up he said "nenin(how he says Devin)ball" then pointing at the other yellow ball said "mama ball". Then stood there hugging "his" ball. Devin was also far more interested in how the ball return worked than how many pins he knocked down. He'd push his ball then run over to the ball return to watch it come back up...he studied every side of that thing, just trying to figure it out! Elizabeth was really into it this time, she got really creative with how she pushed her ball. It was a really good fun night! Thursday my mom graciously watched our kiddos while we taught scouts, which went really well I thought! Hopefully they learned as much as we think they did! And that is where we shall end...until the next post on our Fabulously Fun Friday!
