So the week of the 16th was supposed to be quite eventful and was I guess in a way. Tuesday evening was Elizabeth's first piano recital! She played Jingle Bells, she told me she was kind of nervous about messing up...poor perfectionist girl(she truly is my daughter!!). I told her if she messed up it's no biggie just correct and keep going, it doesn't matter cause most 5 year olds can't play the piano at all so no one was expecting perfection. She took great comfort in that and loosened up a lot. She was one of two pre-piano students to play using what her teacher calls "middle C home position" and playing with fingers on both hands, everyone else just used there pointer fingers to plink the correct keys. We were very impressed considering she's only been in lessons for a few months! She is used to playing on a keyboard(that's what we have at home and also what they use in class) but for the recital they played on a real piano so her playing is kinda soft as she's not used to having to press hard on the keys, but my totally unbiased opinion ;) is that she did AMAZING!! Afterwards we went to dinner at Applebees to her delight!
Tickle monster!
This is how Devin got through(barely we took him out screaming hysterically at the end) his Nabi and Pediasure.
Here is a video of her playing Jingle Bells...I missed her introducing herself, she was too cute! She said I'm Elizabeth and I'll play Jingle Bells, all confident like!
This is a video of the group song, all the pre-piano students played this together, I thought it was way cute!! If you watch closely when she turns around a couple times you can tell she's not only playing her parts but singing along as well!
Wednesday the kids went to Bravo daycare in the morning and I wrapped presents. Thursday morning was supposed to be my second attempt at taking Devin to see his new behaviorist....but alas that was the morning of the freezing rain and huge snow storm so we ended up rescheduling....again. We also opted out of Elizabeth's tumbling. That night we had a fun night with the scouts letting them play our Wii....they quite enjoyed themselves! Saturday morning we had our rescheduled Christmas pictures at JC Penny but of course it was snowing then too and we ended up getting there too late and lost our spot, so we opted to just come home and have my mom take some in their nice front room, and I think it was a good think as Devin was not cooperative at all...he was in a major funk! So we were grateful for the couple good ones we got! And that was the week!
Our family Christmas pictures!
