On our way to Canada!

So our big "trip" this year was originally going to be heading down to Dinasour National Monument in Vernal,(okay very first it was going to be Disneyland but that just broke the bank, this was plan B...but I'm definitely glad we ended up with plan C!) but neither of the kids are that into dinosaurs right now(in fact they're both downright scared of most of them!) so a month or so ago we changed our plans to go visit our good friends the Roberts in Cardston Alberta as we love Canada and have missed it and been trying to find a time to go back up. So we saw this opportunity and just had to take it! We were going to do it as inexpensively as possible as we obviously didn't have a huge budged set aside for the Vernal trip, and didn't at the time have a whole lot to add to it. Then a little while later Tony received a very generous check from his grandpa(and grandma as he did sign her name as well...so sweet!) so we decided that since his grandma loved traveling we would take a little bit and help with our trip to Canada, as to inspire the love of travel in our kids in her honor. The bulk of that check is starting our future home down payment fund. And so I spent Monday and Tuesday after we got back from our Palisade's camp weekend unloading suitcases and washing everything so that Wednesday July 23rd I could spend the morning getting us all packed up and ready to spend a long weekend in Cardston Alberta! Tony got off at noon and loaded up the van and we were on the road just after 2! We drove through Jack in the Box for dinner in Idaho Falls,(after a Walmart trip for things we remembered we didn't pack...oops) then were on the road again. We got to our Hotel in Helena MO about 9, let the kids check out the hotel room gave them a bath then put us to bed. We had a pretty good breakfast at the hotel then were on the road headed to Canada and super excited about it! We crossed the border around 2:30 and hit up some shops on Main street....Cardston is a very small town(which I LOVE!!) so that didn't take terribly long, then we went over to the Extra Foods store and got some Canadian treats and chips! :) Then went to the family diner for dinner where we were very excited to finally have poutine! It wasn't the best of the trip but was good enough! Then we went to Chris and Kerry Robert's house as they very graciously allowed us to stay with them....ya know, cause they're the BEST!! They were still in Calgary(seeing Wicked...which I was only majorly jealous about ;) ) But they told us to go right in and make ourselves at home....which it turns out our kids are really good at! We got settled and called it a day!

Sorry some how I managed not to take ANY traveling pictures?!! So this is the one and only pic I have, it's of the kids in the hotel...not sure what Devin's deal is, he was actually thrilled to be in a hotel! I guess just not as thrilled to have to go to bed?
